Tippett Studio worked closely with director Phillip Kaufman to seamlessly integrate literary giant Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen) and trailblazing war correspondent Martha Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman) into archival footage of actual events for HBO biopic Hemingway & Gellhorn.

Extensive invisible effects were implemented to create illusions of both time and space. Several scenes set in Cuba were in fact shot around Northern California and then composited with digital environmental elements to achieve the effect of a more equatorial climate. Tippett matchmove supervisor Chris Paizis lined up angles within archival footage and then matched those angles to cameras on-set to achieve perfect perspective lines for our composited performance.

The Tippett team received an Emmy nomination for its visual effects contributions on the project.
