Facilities Specialist: Electrician

The Facilities Electrician is the Facilities Department’s primary resource for electrical and mechanical infrastructure implementation. This role is diversified in responsibility and also involves general lighting, space planning, air handling equipment, plumbing, general shop, repair & maintenance responsibilities.

This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Facilities Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

The below list describes the essential functions of this role, but other duties may be assigned, as necessary.

• Designs, monitors, and installs electrical work throughout the facilities.
• Acts as the Studio’s primary data-voice technician.
• Designs/builds the media room.
• Monitors and maintains the facilities HVAC systems.
• Acts as primary liaison utilities companies and agencies
• Monitors and maintains the facilities UPS systems.
• Oversees the USA Underground Alert Monitor.
• Acts as primary mechanical designer and builder.
• Partners with the Systems Department in planning the machine room and data systems upgrades.
• Acts as the ergonomic intake & prototype specialist.
• Participates in workstation moves throughout the studio, including setup and relocation of desks and computer equipment, monitors, and other heavy items.
• Assists other Facilities personnel with general labor and construction projects, including (but not limited to): light construction, set up of rigs, general repairs and improvements to buildings, prep and painting of rooms, plumbing, workstation relocations, wood/metal shop work, telephony and other general maintenance for the Studio.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Must be a qualified electrician.
• Must be proficient with standard shop tools and equipment, such as table saw, band saw, power sander, drill press, chop saw, drop saw, and various hand tools. Must be proficient with standard building planning/construction techniques.
• Ability to create scale floor plans and construction designs in Adobe Illustrator, and general familiarity with the Mac platform desired.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, diplomacy, and tact.
• Ability to work with diverse personalities at all levels throughout the organization.
• Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires continual standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to professionally represent the studio with public agencies and private
